Chasing Strawberries across Borders

Winning Entry | Cub Reporters Challenge

Seasonal strawberry search reveals global sourcing, farm visits, and growing food from seeds.

I like strawberries, but I couldn’t find them in local markets and a couple of other places. I learned that it’s not the season yet, so I wanted to know where they come from. We called up a local strawberry farm for a visit, but they said we would need to wait at least until December.

Finally, as we happened to visit Sri Lanka, we went to a strawberry farm there, where I got to taste fresh strawberries and bring some home too. Back home, I planted the seeds and am now waiting for them to grow—completing my journey from searching for strawberries to growing them myself.
